Wow! I can’t believe that we are here again, the new year!
I always try to look at the new year as starting over. The past is in the past. There is the now (being present in the moment) and looking to the future. This allows me to learn from the past but not be stuck in the past.
I like to journal and look for things to change, things to get better at. It seems that many of the same themes have been running in my life for a long time. The same goals, the same desires, the same road blocks…
I have made some revelations that have surprised me. Surprised me in the fact that I know these things in my head but haven’t really felt them in my heart or my life.
THIS IS THE YEAR!
My revelations are:
* No one can make me feel bad about myself if I don’t let them
* I set my own standards of excellence not someone else
* I don’t need to do things out of obligation, I need to do them from the heart
* In some instances done is better than good-it’s really OK, I don’t need to be perfect
Last year I was able to make some strides with small changes in my behavior towards taking care of myself. This year I just want to keep going with bigger goals to be even more healthy and stronger. Stronger in mind and body. I am looking forward to this year as the year of change.
Another goal that I have decided for this year is that I want to focus on story. My story, how it connects to my family, friends and how to chronicle that story. Chronicling through improving my photography and video skills, working more in my art journals and my art. (In whatever form it may take) I think this should extend to my professional life. Not sure how yet but it is one of my goals no less!
What are your introspections? Your wishes for the new year?
What will the new year hold for you?
Lots of love,
I love doodling and I love pens. I am so excited to try these…
I had trouble finding them. I live in Denver and none of our big art supply stores carried them. I had to order them here:
“Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” ~Carl Gustav Jung
What is one thing that you would like to achieve by this time next year? And why? Why is this an important goal?
I love stories. Stories of people, culture, everyday events… I always feel a need to document my own story and that of the people I love.
My goal for this time next year is that I would like to be a better story teller (words, photography, video… ).
I am now really laying the seeds to do more, get better and explore my curiosity!
What are your thoughts, your goals?
